the best way think about script writing is to consider the word itself. a script is the description of what is going on in the scene. the more descriptive the writer of the script is, the more the film makers can understand the emotion, subtexts and character development that occurs in each scene.
Look below at the script from a scene from The Godfather (Francis Ford Coppola; 1972), and how it evokes what occurs in the scene.
